Spring Blossoms and Enhancement Projects

Just some pictures of the blossoms going on at the grounds right now, and some enhancement projects we are focusing on doing right now.

Rhododendron x 'P.J.M.'  one of the first to bloom every spring

Daffodils keep on multiplying over the years

New daffodils we added along north fence sure help cheer up a wet spring!

Akebono Cherries are blooming!
Tulips are about to pop!

Before and After, Rose Bed Enhancement

Fall 2017, Roses getting too big for the area, need a deep pruning cut during winter 2018

Before, Heavy Pruning cutback March 20, 2018

After, Weed killer, fertilizer, and new bark put down, March 26, 2018

Rejuvenation time for the lawn is best done in spring, we are also adding sand to a lot of wet and soggy spots

Below is some research done by Richard Nelson utilizing bio solids as turf fertilizer.  It does have a strong smell, so we are learning how to best incorporate the use of this free resource from the city utility company.  As the pictures show, it really does help green up the grass really quick. The nitrogen in the fertilizer is readily available much faster than chemical fertilizers bonded in a polymer coating.
